Ink Refilling Instructions Canon PG-545 BK Cartridge Refill Kit

"Refill instructions for refilling the Canon PG545 black ink cartridge used in the Canon Pixma MG2450, MG2550, MG2550S, MG2950, IP2850, MX495 printers."

Before you begin, cover all valuable surfaces with newspaper and wear protective gloves.  The tools and ink used in this process are from the Eco-Fill Professional Refill Kit for Canon PG-545 CL-546 Ink Cartridges.
Please support our work by buying our products at http://premium-inks.com/

Remove the label on the black PG545 cartridge. You will see 17 compartments.  You need to make a hole inside the rectangular section shown below with the screw tool.
Make hole in the top of the cartridge with the screw tool.
The plastic is tough so you will need to apply downward pressure when you twist the screw tool.

Inkjet black ink into the PG-545BK cartridge.
Now click the PG545 black cartridge into the refill clip.  Push the needle down through the hole and into the sponge.  Very slowly squeeze the ink bottle to inject a small amount of ink into the sponge.  Now withdraw the needle, then push it back into the sponge at a different angle, then inject another small amount of ink into the black cartridge.  Repeat this exercise until you are satisfied that the cartridge is full.  Avoid overfilling the cartridge as this can cause ink to leak out of the print head nozzle, and spill out of the top of the cartridge. As a guide the standard capacity cartridge holds 10ml and the Xl 18ml.  However, we recommend you only inject 7ml or 12mm.

 Dab the print head on a tissue to se if you get a black line.
Remove the cartridge from the refill clip and wipe the print head nozzles with a paper towel.  Now dab the print head on the paper towel.  If you are not getting a consistent black line when you dab the print head on a tissue, you will need to use the ink suction tool to prime the cartridge.
Click PG545 black cartridge into the refill clip and fit syringe. Pull back on the lever to prime the cartridge.
Click the black PG545 cartridge back into the refill clip and attach the syringe.  Now slowly pull back 20mm on the lever until you see ink and air bubbles.  Remove the cartridge from the clip and wipe the print head.  Now test for black line on paper towel.
Re-install the cartridge into the printer.  The printer will display a warning, "ink cartridge is empty".  Press the Stop/Reset button for 5 seconds.  This will disable the ink monitor / ink level indicator on the printer and allow you to continue printing.

The refilling parts and ink shown in this guide are from our Eco-Fill Professional Refill Kit for Canon PG-545 CL-546 Ink Cartridges.

Refilling HP 301 Ink Cartridge with Refill Kit by Eco-Fill

"Description: Article describing how to refill the HP 301 / HP301 xl printer ink cartridges.  What are the best refilling procedures to use?  What is the best refill kit for HP301?"

The HP 301 cartridges, labelled 'intended for single use only', contain a fixed print head. Much of the technology is built-into the print head on the cartridge.  So we think that is makes strong economic and environmental sense to recycle and refill these cartridges as many times as possible.

Eco-Fill offer a dedicated ink refill kit for refilling the HP301 standard and HP301 xl ink cartridges. These kits come with enough ink to refill your HP 301 cartridge numerous times.  The four ink bottles have a built-on needles, so no need to transfer the ink to a syringe. The refilling tools include a cartridge clip suction tool, and screw tool.

Best Printer to Refill - Part 1 (Cheap printer to refill / Cheapest printer for cartridges)

The most important elements making up the best printer for refilling are…

* Easy to refill.
* Cheap to refill.
* Good print quality.
* Medium to heavy duty construction.
* Convenient connection options.
* Initial printer purchase price.

Finding a printer that ticks all of the above boxes is almost impossible! Printer manufacturers don’t want printers to hang around too long anymore. Gone are the days that you could buy an Epson Stylus Photo R200 / R220 / R300 / R320 printer; plug in a CISS, and use it for the next ten years!
ciss printer

Modern day machines contain more plastic. Many of the heavy metal components have been replaced with, by design, mass produced parts with a very limited lifespan. Computer programs calculate the parameters for fine tuning the longevity of use and the inbuilt obsolescence of the hardware. The death certificate has already been written before the printer is born.

The last fifteen years have seen major changes in ink cartridge technology. Standard use domestic cartridges commonly contained 50ml of ink. Modern day cartridge capacities have been dramatically reduced, in some cases down to just 3ml, increasing the cost per print price. However, this does not take into account the counter balance argument being, the initial purchase price of printers is lower than that of fifteen years ago. Added to the equation, the technology included and the available features provided for under £150 are totally impressive. Printers can now communicate with smartphones and tablets, and it is now possible to print from any internet connected location in the world.

Ten years ago, print head and ink technology gathered a pace. Print resolutions improved, so did how the ink interacted with non-coated paper. Ink began to stand prouder on the surface, not soaking so much into the fibres of the paper. There were also advances in print speeds on some models, however, many remain painfully slow.

Manufacturers have discouraged printer owner from refilling their cartridges. One of the first to do this was Lexmark.  They introduced single-use ink cartridges which would not be accepted by the printer after being refilled.  Epson introduced the 'intellichip', which we were told was to provide the printer with intelligent ink level information. The downside being, once the monitor level read empty, the printer would no longer accept the cartridge.  Later Canon began to use microchips on their ink cartridges, and it was necessary to disable the ink monitor after refilling. Until three years ago Brother were the only manufacturer not to use smart chips on their cartridges. Sadly, this changed with the introduction of the LC123/LC125/LC127 series cartridges. Third party microchip manufacturers were slow to emulate the new Brother chips, and when they did, Brother used WiFi automatic firmware printer updates to change the codes, rendering compatible and refillable cartridges useless until the new version chips became available.

Over recent years Epson has employed firmware updates on many of their printers. They have also introduced new versions of popular cartridges like the T0801–6 series, meaning particular printer models would not work with older chips.

HP Envy 4524 Deskjet 3636 Officejet 4658 use HP302 Ink Cartridges

https://premium-inks.com/collections/ecofill-hp-professional-refill-kits/products/ecofill-hp-302-professional-refill-kit-black-colour-1
Three of the latest Hewlett Packard printers require the HP 302 ink cartridges.  Unfortunately these cartridges do not hold very much ink.  Much of the internal space is a blanked off empty space of air.  HP do not state how much ink is contained in the standard HP302 cartridges; instead they quote 190 pages at 5% coverage.  There is an internal sponge which holds a small amount of ink that is probably only a few ml.

With the price of original ink cartridges going through the roof at the moment, it makes sense to refill your cartridges.  Of course doing this also saves on landfill!  Eco-Fill offer a dedicated refill kit for the HP302 printer cartridges which are used in the HP Envy 4524, Deskjet 3636, and Officejet 4658 printers, as well as the existing... HP Deskjet 1110, 2130, 2132, 2134, 3630, 3632, 3634, 3636, 3638, HP Envy 4520, 4522, 4523, 4524, 4527, HP Officejet 3830, 4650 printers.

The kit contains four bottles of ink (black, cyan, magenta, yellow), screw tool, suction tool, plastic gloves and instructions.  The Eco-Fill Professional Refill Kit for HP 302 is available from Premium Inks.

Canon Pixma MX725 Printer Review

https://premium-inks.com/collections/printers/products/canon-pixma-mx725-a4-printer-scanner-copier-wifi-airprint-250-sheet-tray
The Canon Pixma MX-725 inkjet printer was launched over a year ago, but there are still units available from various on-line retailers.   When first introduced into the UK market they sold for between £130 and £180.  Today you can pick one up for around £110.
The advantage to buying an older model printer is that plenty of consumers have already tested the product and offered their feedback.  For a mainstream product like the MX725, there are plenty of reviews from numerous sources.  We will take a look at these to gauge whether this is a good product to buy.

Good points
* Easy to set up WiFi.
* Print from mobile phones and tablets using the built-in application.
* Excellent printing quality, partly due to the Canon self cleaning routine.
* Reasonably compact for the type of machine.
* Excellent duplex printing.
* Good 600dpi scanning facility with good software.
* Stylish curvy design.
* Large 250 sheet paper tray.
* Very good price now that is has been reduced.
* Good build quality
* Cheap compatible ink cartridges and refillable cartridges available.

Bad points
* Printer regularly performs a self-cleaning routine before the first print.
* Shiny black plastic case attracts dust and can scratch easily.
* No vertical rear paper feed.
* A tiny bit noisy.
* Original Canon ink cartridges are expensive.
The Canon Pixma MX725 has received higher than normal feedback scores...
4.3 /5 Amazon

8.8 /10 PC World
4.4 /5 Ebuyer

The Canon Pixma MX725 inkjet printer scores between 4.3 to 4.4 out of 5.  This is a good score for an inkjet printer.  The MX-725 offers good print quality, many useful features, and is cheap to run.  Both cheap replacement ink cartridges and refillable empty cartridges with ARC are available at a cheap price.  The only significant bad thing can be the slowness of  printing the first sheet.  Many Canon printers perform an automatic self-cleaning routine.

Canon Pixma MX-925 Printer Review

Canon Pixma MX925 Printer Review
The Canon Pixma MX925 is coming to the end of its store shelf life, and prices have been slashed to make room for the replacement model printer.  It is currently selling for £120, so we investigate whether this represents real value for money?
This product has been out for a while now, so there is plenty of feedback available from experienced users of this machine.  Here are some of the most frequent comments...

Good points
* Easy to set up.
* Excellent print quality
* Reasonably compact
* Excellent duplex printing and scanning facility.
* Stylish design
* Good price
* Decent build quality
* Cheap compatible ink cartridges and refillable cartridges available.

Bad points
* First page dreadfully slow to print.  Printer often performs a self-cleaning routine before first print.  However, this does ensure a consistent print quality.
* Attracts dust.  Shiny black plastic is a magnet for dust.
* No vertical rear paper feed.
* Original Canon ink cartridges are expensive.

4.5 on Amazon
8.4 out of 10 at Currys
4.4 out of 5 at Argos

This printer looks like a good purchase as it offers good quality printing, is rich with features, and can use cheap replacement ink cartridges.  Refillable cartridges for the Pixma MX925 printer are also readily available at a good price.  The only real bad point seems to be the slowness of printing the first sheet due to the automatic self-cleaning routine.

Epson Strawberry 29 xl Ink Cartridge Refill Instructions

It is completely possible to refill the Epson Strawberry 29 xl ink cartridges with ink.  Unfortunately, they contain a smart chip that monitors the use of the cartridge, and once it reads empty, it sadly cannot be reset.  The end.

If you are looking to save a little money, fortunately, we can point you in the direction of some compatible generic replacement cartridges for use with the Epson Expression Home XP-245, XP-332, XP-335, XP-345, XP-432, XP-435, XP-445 Printers.

If you are looking to contribute to saving the planet and reduce landfill, there are no refill products currently available to replace the genuine Epson Strawberry ink cartridges.  A mystery surrounds why after more than a year, auto resetting chips are still not available?  Only compatible one-use chips have so far been developed for the latest Epson Expression Home XP models. If and when a chip resetter becomes available we will post ink refilling instructions.

What many owners of the above models are doing is storing their printers until the refillable or CISS products become available.  Particularly those who bought them for use with different types of ink.  However, if you are considering doing this, be careful.  Leaving a printer to stand for several months with ink inside can cause a print head blockage.  Don't be tempted to remove the cartridges before putting the printer back into the box.  Ink inside the print head nozzles may dry up if left open and exposed.

What is the best model Epson printer to buy for refilling the cartridges?  Epson Workforce printers using either 16 series or 27 series cartridges can be successfully refilled, but you will need a chip resetter, however, we recommend buying special refillable cartridges with ARC chips.  With the exception of the WF-2750WF printer which is problematic with reset chips, most other models will work well with this type of set-up.  A good printer to buy is the WF-2510WF which uses T1631-4 refillable cartridges.  Refillable cartridges work very well with this machine. Canon Pixma MG5750 MG5751 MG5752 MG5753 Ink Refill Kit by Eco-Fill

Eco-Fill has just released a new refill kit for refilling Canon PGI-570BK Black and CLI-571 BK/C/M/Y Colour cartridges and for the Canon Pixma MG5750, MG5751, MG5752, MG5753, MG6850, MG6851, MG6852, MG6853, MG7750, MG7751, MG7752, MG7753 printers.

With the recent price increases in the costs of original ink cartridges, and the higher than normal costs of replacement compatible cartridges for these models, this refill kit should be very popular.
Eco Fill PGI-570BK CLI-571 BK/C/M/Y Refill Kit
Instead of drilling a hole in the top of the ink tanks, this kit recommends dropping ink onto the exposed sponge at the bottom and underneath the cartridge.  The disadvantages of this method are that each refill only adds 4ml of ink.  This doesn't sound like very much ink, however, it's far more than is contained in many modern day ink cartridges.

The kit comes with 3x 28ml bottles of black dye, 28ml of cyan, 28ml, of magenta, and 28ml of yellow.  Enough ink to refill the original Canon cartridges 7 times!

One important thing to remember is that Canon printer ink levels cannot be reset, but must be disabled so that the printer will allow printing with a refilled cartridge.  Instructions are included in the kit on how to disable the ink monitor.

Epson Expression Home XP-445 Printer Review (Brief)

Our Brief Summary of the New Epson Expression Home XP-445 Inkjet Printer.
Printer Case and Buttons
The printer case is not very hard, but has a nice 6.8 cm screen. Relevant at the time disguised loud click buttons light up but do not always work. The control panel can be vertical or set to a 45-degree angle which can get in the way of the scanner.
Memory Card Reader
You can preview images from an SD card, then print them off. You can scan images directly onto a memory card. You can copy files to your PC from an SD card in the printer
Excellent Scanner
Very high-quality scanner with wide colour gamut. Quick scanning at low resolutions. 30 seconds for a 600dpi scan. Better than average photocopies. Black and White photocopy takes approximately 13 seconds. Colour photocopy 33 seconds.
Printing Quality and Speed
Bold and fairly crisp text. Colour graphics good but take a long time to print. Good to OK results when printing A6 photographs, but slow (taking approximately 200 seconds to print).
WiFi hard to set-up
Set-up instructions not as clear as they could be. Added complication of compatibility with different operating systems. Reports of WiFi connections dropping out.
Ink Cartridges Expensive
Uses Epson Strawberry Claria 29 Ink Cartridges (Multipack around £30). Cost per print can be high. Compatible 29 xl cartridges prices are currently higher than expected. Refillable cartridges or CISS systems are not currently available.
Overall
The Epson Expression Home XP-445 printer is capable of producing decent quality prints, however print speeds are slow. It has a very good quality scanner, and the photocopy quality is better than average. Printer is let down by the flimsy case and buttons, WiFi setup that can be difficult to set-up, and the higher cost per print price. The XP-445 does however have some redeeming features like the iPrint application for printing from mobile phones, and data transfer from the memory card reader. Overall we estimate the printer will score just short of 4 out of 5 stars.

Refill Instructions for Canon PGI-570 BK CLI-571 BK/C/M/Y TS5050 TS6050 Ink Cartridges

PGI-570 BK and CLI-571 BK/C/M/Y are the latest series of ink cartridges for use with Canon Pixma MG5750, MG5751, MG5752, MG5753, MG6850, MG6851, MG6852, MG6853, MG7750, MG7751, MG7752, MG7753 printers. Most of the printers use 5 cartridges, however some also employ a CLI-571 GY Grey/Gray.

The usual method of refilling this design of Canon cartridge has been to drill a hole in the top and inject ink inside the plastic container.  Recent developments in the design of inkjet cartridges have seen the internal capacity of ink considerably reduced.  The CLI-571 BK/C/M/Y/GY cartridges now only hold 7ml of ink, with 4ml in the sponge. A large section of these cartridges are blanked off and left empty.  So there is now no real need to drill a hole in the casing as it is perfectly possible to refill the sponge directly from underneath.

1.  Remove the label from the top of the cartridge(s) to open the vacuum.
2.  Put some newspaper or paper towel on a work surface away from any valuable items.  Place the cartridge(s) upside down so that you can see the ink outlet sponge area.
3.  Using a syringe with the correct colour ink inside, carefully allow some drops of ink to fall onto the exposed sponge area of the cartridge.  Remember that the sponge can only hold 3ml to 4ml, so allow 2ml of ink to drop initially, then wait for this to be absorbed before later adding another 1ml to 2ml of ink.
4.  Leave cartridge to stand upside down for a while to avoid spillages.
5.  Replace the cartridge(s) into the printer.
6.  The following message will appear on the printer LCD screen "The ink has run out, replace the ink tank".  Then "STOP" will appear with a triangle and circle below.   Press and hold the triangle circle until the "STOP" and triangle circle light go out. This will turn off that particular colour chip sensor!  You may have to repeat this process for it to be successful, and every time you take the cartridge out and replace it.

Epson Expression Home XP-245 Printer Review

Printer technology has moved on and Epson has added many new features over the years, keeping up with social trends. With people living in increasingly small spaces, printers are also getting smaller. Potential buyers often have limited desk space or clearance below a shelf, and the XP-245 from the small-in-one range ticks the compact size box.
Epson Expression Home XP-245 Inkjet Printer
Among the features that are becoming standard equipment with most inkjet printers is mobile printing.  More and more people use smartphones for organizing their lives, so it is useful to have a printer to connect to if you need to print an invoice, holiday tickets, or photographs.  The XP245 offers built-in applications such as Epson Connect mobile and cloud printing services.

Being a new product there is very little customer feedback available, however, two customers on the Epson website have reported a difficulty with setting up the WiFi connection.  One customer was trying to connect a nearby laptop, and another connecting to a Mac Sierra.  In addition, they reported no installation documentation in the box and impossible to find on-line?  We have to stress that there are only two reviews listed so far so this feedback may not be accurate.

The Epson Expression Home XP-245 looks very similar and supersedes the XP-235 and XP-225 models.  We were impressed with the print quality of the XP-225 when we tested it and we expect a similar performance with this model.  This machine is in no way heavy duty, but it should be capable of producing some pleasing documents and decent photographs.  Dedicated photographic printers will not worry about the new competition, but the XP-245 should be capable of printing some nice holiday snaps.

The XP245 uses 4x Strawberry 29 / 29xl series ink cartridges containing Claria home ink, the same cartridges as used in the XP-235 printers.  Compatible Non-OEM ink has been very slow to arrive from China this time, and when it did it was more expensive than usual.  Chinese microchip manufacturers have struggled to emulate the Epson smart chip technology.  Prices were high when they eventually launched their compatible chip.  One year later prices are starting to lower significantly, however, at around £17 for a set of replacement Epson Strawberry 29 cartridges, prices remain higher than expected.  Interestingly there are still no refillable / reusable cartridges, or CISS products available?   So owners must chose between the Epson Multipack 4-Colours 29 Claria Home Ink (£30), or compatible pre-filled cartridges for £17.

The new Epson Expression Home XP-245 looks almost identical to the older XP-235 model, and we expect a similar performance.  The XP-235 typically scored 4 out of 5 stars, a decent review for an inkjet printer.  So for under £50, the XP-245 looks like a safe purchase, however, we recommend you also take a look at the Canon Pixma MG5750 printer which offers similar features.

Refill Instructions for Canon Pixma MG5450 MG5550 MG5650 iP7250 Cartridges

Refilling original OEM printer ink cartridges can be a messy business.  Manufacturers did not design their cartridges to be refilled; they prefer you buy a new one each time.  Of course, this does nothing to protect the environment, so refilling and reusing cartridges makes sense.

The Canon Pixma MG5400, MG5450, MG5550, MG5650, MG6300, MG6350, iP7250, MX725, and MX925 printers use the PGI-550 BK and CLI-551 series cartridges.  These cartridges are containers of ink with a smart chip that click into a print head that is built into the printer.  Refilling them involves drilling holes in the top of the cartridges and injecting ink into them.

Modern day cartridges hold far less ink than traditional ink cartridges.  For example, the PGI-550 and CLI-551 only hold 3ml to 4ml of refilling ink.  Much of the internal cartridges is blanked off; making an unused empty space.  Therefore with the lower capacity, more frequent refilling is needed. In contrast, purpose made refillable reusable cartridges for Canon PGI-550 BK and CLI-551 BK/C/M/Y
Refillable cartridges Canon Pima mg5550 mg5650 ip7250 printers
hold approximately 15ml to 10ml per refill.  They also benefit from a dedicated refill hole with a rubber plug, and automatically resetting microchips, making the refill process far easier and more successful.  Because of this, we discourage customers from refilling original Canon 550/551 cartridges.  However, if you are determined to try this then please see our comprehensive instructions in our news blog...

HP 304 Refilling Instructions - How to refill HP304 printer ink cartridges

The new HP Deskjet 2620, 2632, 3270, 3370, 3720, 3722, 3723, 3730, 3732, 3733, 3752, 3755, HP Envy 5020, 5030, 5032 printers using the new HP304 series ink cartridges.  Maybe the reason you are reading this article is because replacement cartridges are expensive.  This is because the HP 304 cartridges have built-in print heads which contribute greatly to the price of replacement cartridges.  On the upside, you get a new print head each time, but we feel this is unnecessary as they have multiple life cycles.  So refilling them makes both financial and environmental sense.

Sadly refilling is not for everyone.  Modern day life can be busy and stressful; spare time limited.  So if you are thinking of buying one of the above printers, then stop and think!  Do you have the time and patience to perform regular cartridge refilling procedures? If you already own one of these printers then refilling is the only sane option, so read on for more details...

Equipment required... Bottles of Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink.  4 syringes (if needles not already fitted to bottles), a screw tool, paper towel, and gloves.  Buy a refill kit containing all of the tools and ink from Premium Inks!

There is a label on the top of each cartridge which covers up where you need to make the refilling holes.  You will need to make one hole to refill the black cartridges (see diagram) and three holes in the top of the colour cartridge.
hp304 black cartridge

The colour cartridge has three separate ink compartments for the cyan, magenta and yellow colours.  See diagram.  Use a screw tool to make the holes in the appropriate places.  Then push the filling needle into the hole and into the inner sponge.  Then VERY VERY SLOWLY inject a very small amount of ink into the cartridge.  I say 'a very small amount of ink' because these HP304 cartridges have a very low capacity, however, the HP304xl versions are more generous.  If you see bubbles start to appear at the top of the needle, then stop.  Bear in mind that the sponge has to absorb the ink and this is not always instant, so take your time.  Give the sponge a fighting chance to absorb the ink, otherwise due to pressure, it might flow straight out of the bottom of the cartridge print head.  Repeat this exercise for all the colours that need refilling. Dab the print head on a paper towel and gently wipe off excessive ink.  Then dab the print head on the paper towel again to check for lines of black and colour.  The black cartridge should produce a solid black strip, and the colour cartridge three strips, a cyan, a magenta and a yellow.  If one of the colours is not coming through, then leave the cartridge overnight which will give time for the ink to soak into the sponge.  Do not leave on a kitchen towel as this will draw ink out of the cartridge! Finally, put the cartridge into the printer and perform a test print.  You may get an error message saying that the cartridge is low or empty.  You can bypass these error codes by pressing various buttons on the printer or connected computer.

Useful Tips

When refilling be careful not to contaminate the different colours by getting excessive ink on the top or bottom of the cartridges.  You do not want the wrong ink to flow into the wrong holes or through the wrong nozzle.

The best piece of advice I can give you is to take your time.  Rushing is a really bad idea and usually, results in spilt ink and messy hands.  Make sure you cover all work surfaces before you begin!

Troubleshooting Guide

One or more of the colours are not printing?
Leave the cartridge overnight giving ample time for the ink to soak into the sponge.  (Do not leave on a kitchen towel as this will draw ink out of the cartridge!)

I have left the cartridge overnight but it is still not printing correctly?
Use a suction tool to draw ink through and out of the print head nozzle.  The Eco-Fill Professional Refill Kit comes complete with a suction tool.

The yellow ink coming out of the cartridge looks green?
The yellow colour compartment has been contaminated with cyan ink.  Hopefully, with future printing and refilling, the problem will correct itself.

Refilling Instructions for Epson Daisy 18 xl Series Ink Cartridges Refill T1811-4

Refill Instructions for Epson Daisy 18 xl Series Ink Cartridges (T1811 Black, T1812 Cyan, T1813 Magenta, T1814 Yellow).  For use with Epson Expression Home XP30, XP102, XP202, XP205, XP212, XP215, XP-225, XP302, XP305, XP312, XP315, XP322, XP325, XP402, XP405, XP405WH, XP412, XP415, XP422, XP425 printers.

It is possible to make a hole in the top of the four cartridges and inject ink into them, albeit rather a messy process with the original Epson cartridges.  Unfortunately after doing this the printer will not allow them to be reused or recycled because they contain a smart chip that estimates and tells the printer how much ink is left in the cartridge(s).  Once they reach empty status the printer will not accept them and will refuse to print.  The only way to get them recognized by the printer is to zap the microchips with a chip resetter, which will hopefully reset the ink monitor levels back to full again!  These cost between £15 to £20.
What problems associated with refilling Epson Daisy OEM Ink Cartridges?
1. When the microchips read empty the printer will refuse to accept them.  You will need to buy a chip resetter to reset printer monitor ink levels.
2. Making a hole in the top of the cartridges is messy and fragments of plastic can contaminate the ink and could later block the print heads.
3. Original Epson Daisy cartridges are not designed to be refilled and do not accept refill ink  as well as special refillable cartridges with auto reset chips.
4.  OEM Daisy cartridges can only be refilled so many times before they will need to be replaced.  They will soon begin to leak from the bottom outlet valve.

What are the alternatives to refilling original Epson Daisy cartridges?
1. Buy special empty reusable refillable ink cartridges to replace Daisy 18/18xl cartridges. These dedicated refillable cartridges are very easy to refill.  They have a rubber plug in the top that you remove, before injecting the ink into the clear chamber, then you replace the plug. They have ARC (auto reset chips) fitted that work on an artificial cycle which estimates ink use similar to original Epson Daisy cartridges.  When the monitor reads empty, they auto reset back to read full again.

2. Buy a CISS System.  The problem with CISS systems is that tubes are connected to the cartridges going to an external ink tank.  Because the ink cartridge carriage moves right to left, left to right, so does the connected tubes.   These tubes have to be tied down in a precise manner to avoid major problems.  There is also the problem with the scanner lid that cannot be closed unless you modify the case.  The ink bottles have to be at the same level as the printer, otherwise gravity will push the ink through the cartridges and flood the printer.  Finally, CISS systems are prone to damage in the post.  The ink tanks can split easily or pipes can come loose flooding the package with ink.

In summary we have looked at all methods of replenishing the ink supply in Epson printers that use Daisy series ink cartridges.  The stand out option for us is Buy special empty reusable refillable ink cartridges to replace Daisy 18/18xl cartridges.

What type of ink do we use to refill my Epson Daisy cartridges?
Three types of ink can be used to refill Daisy 18 Series cartridges.  The most common type is Dye refill ink for Daisy cartridges, which is the cheapest type to buy.  For everyday printing this is the best choice.  Premium quality dye ink offers a solid and reliable performance.  The disadvantages are that it fades in the Sun and is not water-proof.
Pigment ink for Daisy cartridges is more expensive than Dye ink but is fade resistant and water proof to a degree, however still not recommended for outdoor use.
Sublimation ink for Daisy cartridges is designed for heat transfer.  You print your design on to paper, then heat it onto the object.  The gas in the ink transfers the design to the coated object.
