When using compatible Canon Pixma PGI 520 CLI 521 PGI 525 CLI 526 cartridges that do not contain a micro-chip you will need to transfer the existing chip from the OEM cartridge and stick it to the compatible one.
On the genuine cartridge the chip is usually held in place with double sided sticky tape . You can carefully lever this off using a sharp tool and use the same tape to stick it to the new cartridge. Be careful not to damage the chip when you do this!
