Firmware Downgrade for Epson XP Expression / Photo Series Printers for Refillable & Compatible Cartridges

Even though we supply the latest auto reset chips for use with Epson XP Expression/Photo printers, the software can be changed by the manufacturer.  We therefore recommend that you disable any Firmware Updates on your printer to avoid future problems using compatible cartridges.
If you have already performed a firmware update then you may need to perform a firmware downgrade so that your compatible / refillable cartridges are accepted again by your printer.  Please see the following suggestions as to how to perform this (At your own risk!  We take no responsibility for results!).

  1. Can I just say that this tutorial for the XP-610 is wrong. This printer doesn't have buttons. It only has touch buttons that are only visible when switched on. And it does't include stop either.

  3. You didn't add any instructions for xp-640 printer. I've searched online every where and nobody has been able to produce firmware downgrade that works successfully for the epson xp-640. Can anyone help? I'm ready to throw my printer in the trash.

  4. Your instructions state to do this...
    XP-300/302/305/310/312/315/400/410/412/415/510/600/605/610/615
    Turn off the printer.
Press and hold STOP+LEFT ARROW+HOME+ON buttons at the same time within one minute after printer is turned off.
Printer LCD will display "FW Update Mode".
Update devices list and select firmware then click update.
When update is completed confirm that "FINISHED" text and firmware information is displayed on the screen.
Press OK button to turn off the printer.
STOP - red triangle in the circle.
LEFT ARROW - white arrow on the left side of the OK button.
HOME - buton on the left size of the LCD.

That's all fine and dandy except once I get to the FW Update Mode, I have no options to "Update devices list and select firmware then click update."
Without some clarification here this guide is useless.
