Epson Eco Tank L355 Ecotank L555 Printer with Ink ... Nothing New and More Expensive?

Epson have just released two new products called 'Eco Tank', the L355 and the Epson EcoTank L555 models which are set to launch in the UK.  They contain a side mounted ink tank that can be refilled.

Refillable cartridges and CISS systems are nothing new have been around for several years now and perform the same task, significantly cutting the costs of printing using refill ink.  These methods have been increasingly used in times of recession and by environment friendly people, which in turn has cut sales of ordinary ink cartridges.  These new Eco Tank products have been introduced by Epson to offer an OEM method of refilling, however they are far more expensive than buying the cheaper printers with cartridges and adding refillable cartridges and refill ink.

We have made a rough comparison below of a current Epson printer model without the side ink tank system, costing around £75 to £80.  The L355 and L555 are significantly more expensive than there cartridge model equivalents, costing £200-£250 more (£249.99 / £329.99 on 04/10/14).  If we compare the cost of buying similar models without the ink tanks for around £75 instead of £330 you save £250.  You can then put the £250 towards refillable cartridges £11.95, and refill ink £9.95; saving a massive £220+!

WF2510WF Plus Refillable Cartridges and Refill Ink - Total Price £99.00!

Epson Eco Tank L555 - £329.99 (04/10/14)

Looking at these figures it makes sense to buy the much cheaper cartridge type Epson printer models and then special refillable cartridges and refill ink!  This way you save a massive £228.10! (04/10/14).

Before making a purchase decision check out the printer specifications for above models.  They are similar but may contain slightly different features. Do the research, but I think you will come to the same conclusion as we did!

Brother Printer Machine Error 46 Unable to Clean

When a printer performs a head clean the ink is deposited in a waste ink tank.  When the printer estimates that this ink tank is full an error message may occur... Machine Error 46 Unable to Clean.

In many cases this estimate is exaggerated and there is still remaining space for more waste ink in the tank.  The printer can be brought back to life by performing a manual reset.
1. Turn the machine on.
2. Press the Set / OK button,
3.  Press the Menu button.
4.  Press the Mono Start button.
5.  Press the up arrow key four times.
You need to press the above buttons in quick succession.  If you have done this correctly the word ‘maintenance’ should appear on the display.
6. Using the Up/Down arrow keys select the number 8 and then press Set/OK.
7.  Using the Up/Down arrow keys select the number 0 and then press Set/OK.
8.  Either press the Mono Start button repeatedly or use the Up/Down arrow to get into the Purge option.
9.  When PURGE is displayed on the screen, use the up/down arrows and the set/ok key to enter the numbers 2, 7, 8, 3 on the screen.
10.   The number displayed after PURGE should now read 0.  Press the Stop/Exit key to go back to the main maintenance mode menu.
11.  Using the up/down and SET/OK keys enter 9 and then 9 again to exit maintenance mode.

These instructions should work with the following printer models...  Brother DCP-110C, DCP-115C, DCP-117C, DCP-120C, DCP-310CN, DCP-315CN, DCP-340CW, DCP-585CW, DCP-130C, DCP-135C, DCP-145C, DCP-150C, DCP-153C. Canon PIXMA MG2450 Disable Ink Monitor / Reset Levels / Error Codes

Sadly like many other Canon printers you cannot reset the Ink Levels on the PIXMA MG2450.  The ink level data is stored on a copper strip and the printer writes and updates information on it  as it prints or head cleans.  Once the cartridge thinks it is empty it will always show as empty.  Fortunately if your printer is showing that one or more of the cartridges are empty, you can bypass this message by holding the “stop / reset” button on the printer for six seconds. If the printer is showing both cartridges are empty, you will need to repeat the process. The printer should continue printing and use any remaining ink in the cartridges.

There are also a series of error codes / messages indicated by the following...
Two flashes: Machine is out of paper / paper does not feed. Three flashes: Paper jam. Four flashes: The cartridge is not installed properly. Five flashes: The cartridge is not installed properly / appropriate cartridge is not installed. Eight flashes: Ink absorber is almost full. Thirteen flashes: The remaining ink level cannot be detected. Fourteen flashes: The cartridges cannot be recognised. Fifteen flashes: The cartridges cannot be recognised. Sixteen flashes: The ink has run out.

The Canon Pixam MG2450 printer uses the PG-545 Black and CL-546 Colour cartridges.  The Colour cartridges are filled in a similar manner to the older CL-540 cartridges, however the Black PG-545 has a thicker plastic top that can be hard to penetrate.  Fortunately our Eco-Fill Professional Refill Kit has a heavy duty screw tool included that will pierce a refill hole.

Lubrink 'New Word' seeks inclusion in English Dictionary Oxford / Cambridge

Lubrink, the new concept in printer ink, is starting to make a real name for itself, similar to what Hoover and Sellotape did in the 20th century.

New word requesting inclusion in the Oxford and Cambridge English Dictionary.
Definition of 'Lubrink'
Noun: A fluid or viscous substance with added lubricant used for inkjet printing.

Lubrink aims to help prevent blocked print heads by using an added lubricant that continually cleans and lubricates the heads while you perform ordinary printing.

Lubrink is currently the only ink product designed as a dual purpose product; to print and clean at the same time.

The Lubrink logo has just been given a face-lift by the owners.  The colours have been used to separate the different meanings of the name.  The new design has so far received a mixed response but it is hoped that it will eventually receive universal approval from consumers.

New Brother DCP-J132W printer In Stock in Louth Lincolnshire

The New Brother DCP-J132W printers arrived today and go on sale for £69.

Being the cheapest Brother model and being equipped with Wi-Fi and Tablet connectivity we think they will be a top selling product.

Replacement cartridges are a little expensive at the moment but prices will soon come down as the new microchips are mass produced.  In fact, if you require cheap printing and do not need Wireless then we would recommend the Brother DCP-197C instead.
