Epson Expression Home XP-102 Hits The Shops Today

The new compact Epson Expression Home XP-102 all-in-one printer becomes available to buy from today priced around £50 and aimed at the home and student market.
Previously the word 'Expression' was used by Epson for it's scanner range, but we will soon see a list of printer models bearing this tag, followed by letters XP.
The XP-102 features a healthy print resolution of 5760 x 1440 dpi, however the scanner is only 1200 x 600 dots per inch.  There is no Wireless / WiFi and no support for mobile devices.  There are no memory card ports so you will need a PC or Mac to operate this printer.
This Expression Home uses the new Series 18 Daisy Ink Cartridges that come in standard and XL versions.  Prices start from around £7 each.  Compatible and refillable cartridges are not yet available and the original genuine Epson inks cannot be refilled because they contain a smart-chip. However when they do become available you will be able to buy from http://www.printercartridges.net/

New Brother DCP J140W Wireless Printer Offers Competition to Epson

Brother DCPJ140W Wi Fi Printer

Brother have just released their latest multi-function model, the DCP-J140W printer; the cheapest Brother printer yet offering Wireless connectivity!
Several printer manufacturers have been selling cheap Wi-Fi enabled printers, and up to now Brother have resisted the temptation to compete at these low price points.  The DCP-J140W heralds a new dawn, or at least a half way house in their thinking with regards to budget offerings.  Priced at around £60, this machine will offer fresh competition for the likes of the Epson SX438W for example.  And with the added advantage of no smart chip technology, cartridge costs will be cheaper and easier to use.
The DCPJ140W is a slightly stripped down version of more expensive models and does not have a colour LCD screen or any card reader ports.  So there is no way of printing from memory cards, however this new model can connect to mobile devices using apps!
A review of this new machine is available from http://www.printernews.info/BROTHERJ140WREVIEW.htm and compatible printer cartridges can be purchased from http://www.printercartridges.net/
